Think Malta and you almost immediately think sea! Think sea and you think of fun. And there’s not much more fun to be had on the sea than by lashing a pair of planks to your feet and being dragged along the surface of the water behind a speedboat, or waterskiing, as I believe it’s more commonly known.
It’s a bit of a no-brainer really. There are pretty much just the two countries to choose from when it comes to learning English in Europe – the rainy old UK or sun-drenched Malta. So, where you gonna go?
You don't have to be a hopeless romantic to envision a lovely wedding in the beauty and serenity of a Mediterranean setting. But it helps!
We all dream of being stars in the music world, selling more albums than Adele or Lady Ga Ga and living in a gold-plated house with hot and cold running servants and a chocolate fountain in the entrance hall. It's just one of those things that appeals to millions, like playing professional sport or winning the lottery.
There are times when one bar just won’t do, and that’s when a good old-fashioned pub crawl is in order. You may be pleased to know that Malta is jam-packed with a wide variety of different pubs that will suit all tastes – whether you wish to be surrounded by a hearty, rough and ready atmosphere, or somewhere cool and sophisticated with sleek and stylish décor.
Since Roman and medieval times, Malta has played temporary home to many famous literary names in history, from Cicero, Coleridge and Lord Byron to Desmond Morris and Nicholas Monsarrat And then there was the country’s homegrown famous literary son, Edward de Bono – he of lateral thinking fame. All sought help from the inspirational island.
Winter or summer, rain or shine, (well let’s face it it’s going to be shine for the most part) there's no better way of seeing Malta than without the hassle of parking and endless traffic jams. This is easily achieved if you opt for two wheels instead of four to make your way around the islands.
If you’ve not been initiated to the mystical ways of golf then take this as a serious warning and before you consider a trip to the course know that it is the most addictive and infuriating thing in the world.
Most Maltese start swimming at a very early age, often being the unsuspecting victims of a proud father's sudden impulse to push them into the water and then jovially expect them to float.
If throwing some sick shapes to a pumping onslaught of solid tunes is your kind of thing, then you’ll be in your element in Malta. Boasting an outstanding club culture, Malta possesses an impressive array of top-rated clubs as well as an ever-growing list of noteworthy DJs and music producers.
