If you love to lie around in the sun, take an occasional swim and sip on a cool drink then there are two ways to go in Malta. Firstly, you can hit the beach with everyone else. But if you have a morbid fear of sand, open water, seaweed or fish – or if you just like things a little more refined, then you should head for one of the many lidos.
Nothing shaped the history of Malta - or arguably the history of the rest of Western Europe - like the Great Siege. It was a watershed event in this small island’s past and one we should all know more about – because without it, many more Europeans could quite feasibly be speaking Arabic and visiting a Mosque on a daily basis.
Whatever the time of year, in Malta there is always some kind of trade fair going for you to visit and to browse at leisure. From bird shows, energy, gardening and boats to interiors, travel, property, food, drink and many others, these frequent fairs attract a lot of visitors, both local and tourists.
We’ve all dreamed the Formula 1 dream, haven’t we? The one where it’s not Lewis Hamilton but you driving to a Grand Prix victory in a glamorous venue, taking the plaudits and spraying the crowd with Champagne. The reality is that it’s never going to happen - but you can experience the thrills and spills of high-speed racing on the kart track.
So we know all about the beautiful beaches, the dazzling warm sea and the guaranteed sun but what are you going to do after dark? Well, if you like a lively night out, busting some moves on the dance floor long after the time when Cinderella’s glass coach departs then you’re in luck. Malta’s club scene is alive and it’s kicking!
Every month we create some exiting dishes, using Seasonal Vegetables, Meats and Fresh Fish. With each dish having its own detail, what we want you to experience is that sense of surprise when you taste something good and new, we want the peak of sensation on the palate to be all that you feel.
The Bella Vista Hotel is located on the outskirts of Qawra within walking distance to the quaint Qawra Promenade and a few minutes stroll away from the Bugibba Square, with its many shops, bars, clubs, restaurants, water sports, casino, cinema, sandy & rocky beach and bus terminus.
So you’ve just landed in Malta! Or you’ve lived here for your entire life. Or you’ve got family here and you come down a few times a year for a quick holiday. It doesn’t matter much, really, because whether you know the island like the back of your hand or you’re just venturing out to get your first taste of this little gem of ours, the chances are that you’ve never experienced it from the deck of a chartered yacht.
Many visitors to Malta experience a sense of confusion when they land in Malta. Unlike most Mediterranean destinations, all the airport signs and directions are in English, the airport staff will answer any enquiries you have in English, while the officers on Passport Control will talk to you … in English.
Most people enjoy a day by the sea. But there is also a fairly large percentage of people who have serious issues with sand – or, more specifically, its annoying habit of lodging in every nook and cranny of your body and grating away until you are red raw! This is where Malta scores heavily because most of the shoreline here is a totally sand-free zone!
