The most common definition of Karting is "a vast sport, with many adaptations on the main speed 'n' thrills theme."
But it is so much more flexible than most other motor sports whilst still combining all the elements of professional racing. Karting has long established itself as the first step on the ladder to motor racing success, and besides, and probably more important for the casual visitor to Malta - it's fun!
Karting activities are organised on a regular basis by the Island Karting Club which offers various official and unofficial two-stroke and four-stroke events throughout the year at which both local enthusiasts and visitors can participate.
There is also the Badger Karting, a joint venture between the Pater Group and Badger Co. Ltd, aimed at increasing Karting activities for Maltese and tourists alike. Karting is the ideal "speed" sport in Malta because it does not require too big a circuit in such a restricted territory, but given the local huge interest in the "speed 'n' thrills" world, other speed activities available include off-roading, drag racing, hill-climbs, motocross, motor biking and, by comparison, the gentler art of car modifications. Most clubs have websites one can access.
They are always happy to have visitors joining in their activities and there is a general eagerness to help out with both men and machines.
