Whether you consider yourself a complete beginner or a proven stalwart of the game, ten-pin bowling in Malta certainly won’t go a-missing. Top-class facilities exist where you can go to enjoy your favourite indoor sport either as part of a holiday or during a routine business visit.
Ten-pin bowling was popularised on the island way back in the 60s when locals and visitors mingled to share many an entertaining evening together. The passage of time has seen a complete refurbishment of the whole ten-pin bowling set-up, foremost amongst the new places being the Eden Leisure Superbowl in St Julian’s.
The Eden Leisure's ten-pin bowling centre opened in 1988 with twenty lanes of bowling and a variety of entertainment ranging from fun bowling through to national bowling leagues and international tournaments. In 2005 a new world bowling endurance record was set there, at over sixty hours.
Some of the standout annual events include the Malta Open Super Bowl, the Seniors Super Bowl and the Youth Open Super Bowl. Official competitions are regulated by the Malta Ten-Pin Bowling Association (MTBA) and Maltese bowlers have, over the years, established themselves as top contenders for various international honours, particularly in the Ladies events. So be ready for some stiff competition…
