Like Malta, Gozo has no mountains, but it is certainly hillier and greener. Renting a mountain bike there can offer you whole days of satisfaction as you pedal your way past the tiny villages and towns across peaceful countryside where your only worry is the guard dogs outside the remote farmhouses that are only too enthusiastic to follow you around.
Exploring Gozo on a mountain bike is perhaps the best way to do it considering the public transport service there is not exactly the most reliable and taxi rates can be pretty taxing. Renting the bike is the easiest of things. You can pick up your bike from the various rental companies available anytime you like during the day. When hiring a bike for one day, return it on the same day before the rental shop closes, otherwise you will be charged for an extra day.
Details and address where you will pick up your bike will be attached with your holiday voucher. Print the voucher and present it at the bike rental shop as it is your proof of purchase. What could be easier? Booking can be done on the various Malta and Gozo websites promoting this type of rental. There are all types and sizes of bicycles for rental. Usually all bicycles for rental are mountain bikes, which are most ideal for the Maltese and Gozitan terrain.
If you need bicycles for children or any specific sizes, you can always inform your rental people of your special requests while you are making your booking. If you want to start off at a particular point and you don't want to waste any time cycling from and to the pick up shops, the bikes usually can be delivered and retrieved anywhere on the Island. At an extra charge, of course.
Slightly tricky this in that you often see people doing it but it is not always abundantly clear where they have got their bikes from. We suggest you ask at your hotel concierge and see what they suggest. Alternatively ask a local shopkeeper who should be able to point you in the right direction.
